Dandelion roots help in boosting the immune system and are also prescribed for diabetics. They are also suitable for the treatment of gastric diseases, accompanied by low acidity. If there are skin problems caused by metabolic disorders in the body, then dandelion root will also come in handy. Use it in the form of infusions, powder or syrup.

  • For certain liver diseases or for blood thinning: grind the root and consume half a teaspoon three times a day half an hour before meals. The powder is washed down with water.
  • To prepare an infusion of a general strengthening action: 20-30 g of crushed root is poured with a liter of hot water and kept on low heat under a lid for 18-20 minutes. Then the broth is cooled and filtered. Take orally in a warm form, 100 ml three times a day one hour before meals.
  • When used as a laxative and to improve the functioning of the digestive tract: 10 g of ground roots are poured into 200 ml of cool water and infused for 8-9 hours. Take orally 50 ml four times a day before meals.
  • To treat skin rashes: 10 g of ground roots are poured into 200 ml of boiling water and boiled for 15-20 minutes over low heat. Infuse the decoction for 40 minutes and filter. Consume inside a third cup three times a day before meals.
  • To improve appetite: 10 g of ground root is poured into a glass of cool water and infused at room temperature for 8-9 hours. Then the infusion is filtered. Consume a quarter cup four times a day before meals.

Collection, harvesting and drying

Harvesting dandelion roots should be started in advance in the spring. Usually this is the period of mid-spring or closer to May. But you can repeat the collection also in the fall, closer to October. If harvesting is done in the spring, then the roots must be dug up before the dandelions bloom.

  • Larger roots, free from small processes, are subject to use.
  • Initially, the roots are dried in a room without sunlight for 3-4 days until they stop secreting juice, then they are washed under cool water.
  • The roots are then cut, with the larger pieces cut lengthwise.
  • Drying is carried out either in a special dryer, or in a room with good ventilation.
  • It is allowed to dry the roots in the oven, but not more than forty degrees. Drying lasts from 10 days to two weeks.

If the workpiece is made correctly, then the root will crunch when cracked.
