A decoction, like other medicines, in the preparation of which is used sagebrush, has a number of useful properties. The terms "infusion" and "decoction" should not be confused. The word "decoction" speaks for itself: the drug is "boiled", i.e. put on fire and boil for several minutes. And the infusion is simply poured with boiling water and aged for some time to achieve its maximum effect.

Decoctions of wormwood were used in folk medicine in India and Tibet.

A decoction of wormwood is a drug in the treatment of the following diseases:

  • neurosis;
  • insomnia;
  • helminths;
  • various skin lesions, eczema and calluses;
  • anemia;
  • haemorrhoids;
  • inflammatory processes in the joints;
  • bruises.

Wormwood decoction has tonic properties, cleanses the body of toxins and harmful substances. In addition, it relieves fever, stimulates appetite.

Contraindications

Despite the fact that the plant has useful properties, there are a number of contraindications for its use.

  • You can only be treated with wormwood for a month, but not more than that. Next, you should take a break from taking it for 1-2 months.
  • Abuse of drugs from wormwood leads to poisoning, nervous disorders, hallucinations.
  • It is forbidden to use wormwood for people who suffer from seizures of epilepsy.
  • Wormwood is contraindicated for people who suffer from stomach ulcers.
  • Pregnant and lactating women should not use wormwood medicines.
  • Restriction is children's age - 12 years.

Basic decoction recipe

To prepare a decoction, you should take dry raw materials 0.5 tbsp. spoons, raw - 1 tbsp. spoon.

Wormwood is poured with boiling water (1 cup) and put on fire.

From the moment of boiling, the fire decreases, and the broth boils for another 20 minutes. This decoction has a positive effect on the metabolic process that occurs in our body.

Enemas

For the treatment of hemorrhoids, enemas with wormwood decoction are used. To prepare such a decoction, for 1 liter of water you should take 4 tbsp. spoons of dry crushed raw materials.

  • Water with wormwood is put on a slow fire and boiled for 7 minutes.
  • Such a remedy should be infused for about 6 hours. Dishes need to be well wrapped.

The use of such a drug will relieve inflammatory hemorrhoidal processes and significantly improve the patient's condition.

From the root

A decoction can be prepared from the underground part of wormwood, that is, from its root:

  • The root must be dry and crushed. For 1 st. boiling water will need 2 tbsp. spoons of roots.
  • For 10 minutes, this broth is boiled over low heat in a container that must be covered with a lid. Thus, you save the valuable essential oils that make up the roots.
  • After the broth has cooled, it should be filtered. The prepared dose is enough for a day.
  • The broth is drunk 2 tablespoons half an hour before meals.

Traditional medicine recommends this remedy for oncological diseases associated with the digestive and reproductive systems. With its help, they fight parasites, helminths.

In cosmetology

For hair

A decoction of wormwood is an excellent remedy for strengthening hair:

  • To prepare a mask that will nourish your hair with the vitamin, add 1/3 teaspoon of vitamin A to warm wormwood tea and rub this mixture into the hair roots. After 20 minutes, the mask is washed off.
  • A mixture of a decoction of wormwood and yogurt in a 1: 1 ratio will help fight split ends. After applying this composition to the hair, wrap your head with ordinary cling film, and then with a towel. Keep for an hour, then wash off with regular shampoo.
  • Get rid of dry scalp and dandruff can mask, which includes 1 tbsp. a spoonful of decoction, egg yolk and honey. The mixture is kept for 20 minutes. To achieve the best effect, the head is wrapped with a film and a towel, as in the above procedure. After washing off the mask, rinse your hair with chamomile infusion.
  • To strengthen hair, enrich it with useful substances and speed up the process of its growth, prepare a wormwood decoction with live beer. Take a glass of beer and 2 tbsp. tablespoons of dry chopped herb wormwood. All this is put on a slow fire for 15 minutes. Do not bring to a boil, only heat. A warm solution is applied for half an hour. Such a strengthening procedure is carried out once a week.
  • Rinsing decoction can be prepared from a mixture of wormwood, chamomile and bay leaf. Each type of aromatic herb is taken in 1 tbsp. spoon. A few drops of rosemary complete this deliciously healthy bouquet. It will not only strengthen the hair, but also give it shine.
  • A decoction of wormwood should be rinsed with oily hair. You can prepare a decoction from a mixture of wormwood and oak bark. One tablespoon of each of the listed raw materials is taken per glass of water.

For facial skin

  • It is useful to wipe oily skin with a wormwood decoction prepared from 2 tbsp.spoons of dry grass and 2 glasses of water. Boil the broth for 5 minutes. This remedy has a narrowing effect on enlarged pores, which usually accompany oily skin.
  • A decoction of wormwood can be used as an anti-wrinkle remedy. To do this, keep your face over a boiling decoction of wormwood (1 liter of water and 1 tablespoon of dry raw materials). Steam exposure time depends on your skin type. If it is dry, then 3 minutes will be enough. For dry skin, be sure to apply a fat cream on your face. For normal skin, 5 minutes is enough. Oily skin needs a longer exposure - 10 minutes. After the procedure, wash with cold water. The skin will become more toned, fresher, and the process of its blood circulation will improve.

For baths

Wormwood baths will tighten the skin, relieve fatigue. In order to prepare such a bath, you will need a fresh herb plant. It is finely chopped and poured with 4 liters of water. 10 minutes the resulting workpiece is infused, and then put on fire and boil for 5 minutes. Again, it takes 10 minutes for the broth to infuse. We filter the broth and pour it into the prepared bath. Before taking such a bath, the body must be washed with soap.

At home

  • Wormwood decoction is an excellent tool for pest control in the garden. Spraying potato tops, you will get rid of the larvae of the Colorado potato beetle. Fruit trees can be treated with the same decoction to destroy aphids or codling moth. To prepare a saving decoction, take 0.5 buckets of raw wormwood grass (it should be finely chopped or chopped) or 800 g of dry raw materials. For a day, wormwood is poured with 10 liters of cold water, and then all this is put on fire and boiled for half an hour. Strained broth should be diluted with water 2 times.
  • With a decoction of wormwood, you can rid your furry pets of fleas. For a glass of water, you should take 10 g of dry leaves or 20 fresh ones. Treat the animal's hair with a cooled broth. Wormwood does not kill this nasty jumping insect, but fleas do not like its smell, so they will leave your pet.
  • Wormwood decoction can remove earthen fleas. It happens that if the weather is wet and hot for a long time in summer, it becomes a favorable factor for earthen fleas to start in a private house. Pleasant in this, of course, is not enough. Add a decoction of wormwood to the water when washing the floor. This will scare away the insects, and they will stop bothering you.
